Thanks to the two complimentary tickets I got from the previous institution I used to work at, my boyfriend and I got to see a car race event for the first time and what more, it was one of the most popular car race event in the world which is NASCAR.
NASCAR, an acronym for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR has three national series that it sanctions for racing. In a historic shift for the sport, beginning in 2020 NASCAR’s premier series became known as the NASCAR Cup Series and featured cornerstone brands as Premier Partners: Busch Beer, Coca-Cola® and Xfinity. The partners are prominently featured in multiple platforms across the sport, including integrations in broadcast, NASCAR digital and social channels, event entitlements, in-market promotions and at-track activations.
There were a lot of people walking towards the main event place from the parking lot and it was a bit of a walk. All the parking lots were full packed and I was just relieved when we got to have a parking space because I thought we might run out of parking spot. They did a pretty good job in organizing and arranging all the cars. Kudos to all the staff at the parking lots!
I am not knowledgeable about car racing or more so NASCAR. I had to research for what the acronym stands for. Google search engine comes in handy always and revealed "National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing" as the meaning of the acronym.
The NASCAR experience was fun and awesome. The revving cars impressed us with their deafening noise we had wear to headphones.
We sat in two of the chairs at grand stand near Turn 15. It was loud and crazy everytime the cars were racing right in front of our eyes.
Circuit of The Americas is the premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States. Set on 1,500 acres in the rolling hills just outside Downtown Austin, Circuit of The Americas has hosted the biggest names in racing, action sports and music since 2012. At its heart is a 3.41-mile racetrack that was designed to challenge the world’s most exacting competitors while providing a thrilling spectacle for audiences
The Circuit
Circuit of The Americas is more than a race track – it’s the only purpose-built facility in the United States designed to host the premier motorsports championships in the world, including Formula 1, MotoGP, NASCAR and more. With a blend of sweeping, fast sections and tight, technical corners, Circuit of The Americas has challenged the world’s greatest drivers and riders.
The food at event were extra-extra pricey. I think triple or quadruple of the regular price. Good thing, we brought our own food and drinks. We got to save some money.
NASCAR is an event that I would like to experience but not something that I badly want to do again. I am glad I got to experience the event. We had to leave early to make sure we would not be trapped in the traffic.
Being able to attend NASCAR event for free is a good experience for me and my boyfriend. Zoom-zoom, broom-broom, racing cars!
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Buc-ee's in Luling, Texas is considered the largest of the franchised store and I was so excited to find out when my boyfriend mentioned that we would be going there during the weekend.
After church, we head straight to Luling, Texas. From Austin, it was fifty minutes drive. The travel was smooth and the traffic was light. Google Maps took us to the toll road even though my boyfriend preferred the non-toll road, even though we proceeded to the route.
The biggest Buc-ee's was the goal of this trip. I was looking forward for a huge or humongos infrastructure when I heard about the largest and biggest Buc-ee's. I have SM Mall of Asia in the Philippines as my reference.
It turned out Luling's Buc-ee's was not as big as I imagined it. I thought a day would not be enough to explore the place. I guess I exaggerated my expectations and it was alright that my expecation was not met. I enjoyed the place and there were a lot of interesting products to check out from Buc-ee's merchandise to variety of foods. They got clothes, books, kitchen utensils, stationery, pastries, snacks, drinks, sandwiches, jerky, and a lot more.
Ever since our inception in 1982, we have been committed to providing a clean, friendly, and in stock experience for our customers. Regardless of where you may find us, if the store is big or small, near or far, the mission remains the same.If you’ve been to Buc-ee’s, you may already know that this friendly neighbor along the highways has the cleanest restrooms in America. In 2012, Cintas ran a nationwide restroom contest and made it official!
Food we got:
Dried Products
Banana Chips. He got this for a healthy snacks. I have not tried it yet.
Sweetened Mango Slices. My favorite fruit! I like mangoes. Dried mango from Cebu is really good. This one that I got from Buc-ee's is dried apple mango.
Pastries
Lemon bar. Tasted sweet and tangy, it was not really my favorite but he liked it.
Peanut Butter Cookies. Love the nuts and peanut chocolate chip style.
Sandwiches
Sliced Brisket Sandwich. The beef brisket was what he got and it was really good as it was and also with the bun and barbecue sauce.
Pulled Pork Sandwich. I got the this since he already had the brisket and in that way we could share our sandwiches with each other. It also tasted so good. I ate the Pulled Pork Sandwich with pickled cucumber, onion, and barbecue sauce.
You will keep in perfect peacethose whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Hi everyone. It has been four months since I posted something here on my blog. It has been lots of super busy days and lots of challenges and difficulties, but with lots of happy days too. Everything is a lot! Praise the Lord for the good days and bad days!
2024 is more meaningful, exciting, colorful, and challenging at the same time.
My second year of teaching here in th US has been more challenging and hard to the point of giving up and questioning my ability and all those years of experience I gained back in the Philippines. It feels more like I am back to zero. I guess that is how it is. Teaching in the US introduced a different environment, culture, and diverse set of colleagues and students. I just do the best I could as a teacher. I always pray to God to give strength, endurance, patience and wisdom to survive every school day, every class period, levery encounter with my colleagues and students. I surrender every single day to God and cry to Him for help.
At the age of 34, I have my first boyfriend. It was a long waiting season for me. I had always wonder what it was like to have someone special, aside from my family of course. My friends had their boyfriend and my sister and they eventually got married. I am genuinely happy for them, always been, yet there was a part of me that persistently wonder what it would be like to have a boyfriend or get married.
We started dating January of 2024 and it was a nerve-wracking but exciting new chapter of my life. This dating season in my life was one of the many things I prayed for. Everything that I have and I don't have is an answered prayered. Then, here came a lot of overthinking when the dating gets going.
I always tell God if it is not from Him and not for me, please take it away from me. I know it is going to be a hard process. Letting go is always a difficult job to do. So far He wants me to be in this season.
This year has been good to me and my family. I thank God for being with us as we went through arduos challenges and joyful moments in our lives. It has been an overwhelming year for me, but thank You God.
It is what it is. All is well. Whatever will be will be.
Every moment is a gift from above. Treasure them more. Every person we meet is purposefully placed in our lives. Show them kindness and love. It is written that every good and perfect gift is from above, and yes it is.
Merry Christmas and a happy new yeary'all!
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. -James 1:17 NIV
What if the governing entities of this NASA are heavenly bodies who want to return home? And they have been doing it since humans barely learned how to get out there, in outer space. They have been trying to put themselves back in the heavenly realms yet until now they haven't fully discovered the most efficient and effective way to return where they originally come from.
Or maybe, we as humans always have that intense desire to return home, to the heavenly realms. We, ourselves, are heavenly bodies and we're just trying to make it back home in our own way, in our own time, in our own effort.
These were just a few of the many thoughts I had when we visited NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas.
I was excited and so looking forward when there was a plan to go there, well, except for the unexpected expenses that might go beyond my budget but I had no choice but to take risk or else I wouldn't be able to visit it on my own because I had no car and the more the merrier.
All I could see were pictures and realia and souvenirs, and I was not enjoying it. I was looking for something that could make me experience what it was like to be in outer space. My expectations were too high.
We continued to roam around the Space Center and finally something caught my attention. I saw people sitting comfortably on a makeshift chair for astronauts. The two persons were looking on their own monitor as they felt how it was like to be seated on a skyrocket that was about to take off. The vibration added to the experience of the take off. There was a short line waiting to experience the same and we also did wait for our turn. I liked it. I enjoyed it.
We got to tour the facilities while riding a tram of the actual working area where they practice the astronauts and develop equipment and machines that would help the human race to further have access to outer space. A life size skyrocket ship amazed by how huge it was.
So what if humans really are heavenly bodies? What if we're originally from outerspace and we so desire to go back where we belong, to return back home? Just think about it, we might be the aliens of this world and the native dwellers are the animals we rule over with. What are odds!
Work matters so are you. Life is work. The work itself is work. I am not just talking about the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work time or whatever required duration of time your company or employer wants to see on the log. It is more than an employee-employer contract work kind of thing.
Work is a gift from God. It is a blessing. When I was a student, I used to look at work as a resource which is really the entirety of its value in the human economy. Once I have work I can buy, I can do what I want.
Then, I graduated from a state university with a degree, they say it is a ticket to a better job and good life. I got hired and the salary was getting us by. I was grateful I had that job but I kept on searching for a stable job where I could get a better paycheck.
Three years after graduating from college, I did get a stable job with a decent paycheck. I was happy for myself and my family. I dream of the best life for my parents and sister. I want the best for them, and for myself, life has to offer.
During my first few years in my stable job with a decent paycheck, the dream job started to be a burden. At some point, I felt ungrateful. The work became a cross I had to carry like it was some sort of punishment, and I did not like what I felt about my work. The joy of doing it got lost along the way. The passion and dreams I once had for my work were nowhere to be found during the first five years in my job.
The purpose of the job was a source of money so we could buy our basic needs. A resource to get us by in our everyday needs. I was able to get what I wanted, oh yes I did. After getting my wants, I was happy, but it was only temporary. It never lasted and my wants were never satisfied.
We were just surviving and we were barely living.
I wanted to find the joy and spark in my work. I did not want to go on doing what I did feeling it was a burden I completely wanted to put off my shoulder. I wanted to carry the burden with joy and hope that even though things got hard everything would be alright at the end of the day. I sought that joy and spark in my work.
There was something lacking in my work, that was why I was not satisfied or seeing the value of my work. Do you have any guesses as to where I found it?
I found it in God. Cliche as it sounds or superficial as it is, I cannot deny that reality in my life. He made my life brand new. He refreshes my soul as I get to know Him more and more. I have found not only the joy and spark but also the purpose of my life, and why I do what I do.
Ahead is not an easy road. Unpredictable things may happen along the way, and work might feel like a burden big time. I can only pray and hope for you and me that get to see the worth and value of our work through God's perspective. That our work is part of His good plan in our lives.
Work can get hard and annoying sometimes, and this book I just read entitled, Work Matters, serves as one of the many reminders, I get from God that I even brought it here in my new workplace. I would also like to remind you that more than work God cares for your first, your well-being. He wants to be purposeful, joyful, and hopeful with the work He assigns to us.
Our God-given work matters and so you are, first and foremost. Whenever you feel tired and drained from your job, come to Him and you will find rest.
